Don't try tweeting if you work for the Iowa Department of Transportation.
The state agency is blocking the use of Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and other online social media applications for its 3,000 employees while they're on the job because of worries about computer security.
"There are vulnerabilities in there, and we are not going to take that kind of risk on our system," said DOT spokeswoman Dena Gray-Fisher.
The state agency keeps personal data, including Social Security numbers, on 2.1 million licensed Iowa motorists and it can't permit intrusions by computer hackers, she added. She said she isn't aware of any complaints from transportation employees because of the restrictions.
Computer use policies regarding online social media vary widely among other large Iowa public and private employers, officials said.
